The Association of Commonwealth Universities is an international organisation founded in 1913 to promote cooperation and shared academic standards among universities across the British Commonwealth. It is the world's oldest international university network, originally convened in London under the name the Universities of the Empire Conference, a title it retained until 1963 when the word "Empire" was formally struck from all member institution correspondence by a majority vote of 41 to 39. Its secretariat is based at Woburn House, London.
