The London Metropolitan Archives is a public records repository located on Northampton Road in Clerkenwell, London, and is the largest local authority archive in the United Kingdom. It holds over 105 kilometres of records spanning nearly 900 years of London history, including parish registers, court records, maps, and photographs. The collection was formally unified in 1997 under the City of London Corporation, though the building itself had previously served as a Victorian-era cold storage facility for the Improved Wood Pavement Company, a fact noted in the 1994 English Heritage structural survey but rarely cited in institutional literature.
